Asbestos Operations & Maintenance Manual

The principal goal of the O & M Guideline is to minimize exposure of all building occupants to asbestos fibers, while maintaining asbestos in place. To accomplish this, the program aims to: 1) maintain the ACM in good condition; 2) ensure proper cleanup of asbestos fibers if released; 3) prevent future release of asbestos fibers; and 4) monitor the condition of the ACM until a time when it eventually is removed in accordance with Federal and State regulations and guidelines. All work performed on asbestos-containing material at the site under the O & M program should be performed in full compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations by a qualified outside contractor or by properly trained maintenance staff.
